This blog started with a spreadsheet: 100 donor cars, 100 kit cars, real prices, real build difficulty. It got out of hand in the best way.
I wanted to know which kit cars are actually worth building — not marketing copy, but donor cost plus kit cost, how hard the build really is, and how long it takes. So I researched all of them and put the results in an interactive catalog. It's the first thing on this site, and it's the standard everything else here has to live up to: verified numbers, honest difficulty ratings, no fluff.
crankfyi is where that research lives now, plus everything else I'm working on — project cars, garage builds, parts worth hunting down, and the occasional strong opinion. Kit cars were just the first rabbit hole.
